“Animated Santa” is a very interesting concept. We are all familiar with the Santa Clause that delivers his gifts on Christmas morning. We know him as that huge figure in the red suit, hat, and beard. He is the one that we have grown up with and if we were to give our children a toy version of him as Santa, I am sure they would love it.
But if Santa were to be made animated, would you want it to look like Santa Clause with Candlelight? That would be awesome! I was thinking the other day, how great it would be to have that animated Santa come to our front door, with his helper dogs, delivering our toys.
When we were little boys, our family had a very large Christmas tree and we would decorate it for the holidays. My brother and I spent many wonderful Christmas days getting ready for Christmas. And I can remember my mom putting the finishing touches on the tree – placing those last wreaths on the branches, arranging the lights so they would look like dancing lights, and then she would light the entire thing with a beautiful white Christmas candle. It was truly the most amazing display of Christmas lighting.
We would watch it with amazement as that old Christmas tune played. And every year my mom would decorate the tree in the exact same way. Of course now I am a bit older, but the memory still fills me with joy. And now that I am looking at my little girl, she has that same old Christmas magic as well. I guess I have been watching my Santa since she was a baby.
I am always reminded of the kindness that Santa brought to my family. The way he took the time to bring a gift even if we had nothing to give. When he did find something for us he would put it in the sack he always carried with him, and he would take it right out of the box. That man really went the extra mile for our family. He showed us that not only did he come to our home to see if we needed something, but he actually found time to spend some quality time with us.
As a little girl I always dreamed about that Christmas story. So I would imagine that Santa was like that too. I imagine that he came down the chimney with a bag full of gifts for us. We would all sit down together at the table and make toys and eat cookies and cakes. He might have even opened a few presents himself!
I bet you can see how much I love this man. He brought so much joy into our lives. All of us children grew up, wishing and dreaming that one day we would live in a house with Santa. We dreamed about this endlessly!
The great thing about the Christmas story is that every child has their own imagination and creativity of things that they think Santa would want to buy for them. So each year I try to think up a new gift idea and spread the word. Santa is my imagination’s hero! I hope that he got a wonderful Christmas as well. He certainly did to our family!
But now the idea is fading out. Kids are not interested in receiving toys anymore. They want Santa to bring them gifts that will make them happy and healthy. That is what I think he would want too. Not to mention that he would be very tickled and thrilled at the thought that you, me, and our other helpers gave him a great, innovative, and colorful holiday that he will remember forever.
We decided to keep the Santa and Mrs. Clause’s name’s the same, but we put a twist on it by adding a couple of new gifts for them. We found some really beautiful, creative, and funny gifts for them. So my daughter and son-in-law felt that we had done a nice job with our A Softer Santa and Mrs. Clause… until they read the “Gifts From Santa” book! Then they felt sad and disappointed that we could not give them back the same Santa and Mrs Clause that we did!
So Christmas is over and it is time to think about the next Christmas. What do you think will be the next great idea? Is there a specific holiday toy that you think he would like this year? If so, make sure that you get him one before the end of the year!
